What can sinteze offer?

Sinteze operates on the concept that every human is unique and special. There is no ‘normal’, and so there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. Every therapy programme is tailored to your needs.

Together, we will explore what you are experiencing in your life and what is potentially troubling you. Your therapist asks questions while reserving judgement, allowing you to think and learn on your own, and to feel what contributes to the way you experience your life and surroundings. This also allows you to feel what you would like to change. The following questions often form the basis for therapy:

  • How do you accept yourself and relate to those around you?
  • How do you cope with opposition or a lack of understanding in your environment?
  • How do you organise your life as your most authentic self?

Some people can answer these questions for themselves; others may benefit from support. This can take the form of support groups, a buddy, or support from friends and family. And sometimes the best way to help yourself is through psychosocial support. Sinteze welcomes people with questions about themselves, their identity, their relationships, their gender and sexuality, and partners and family members that are dealing with you. The focus is always on you.

Important others are welcome to join in on a session, but their presence does not mean they are being taken into therapy themselves. They are there to help you gain insight into yourself and your situation.

Therapy is always confidential (professional secrecy) and performed according to a code of ethics. We will clearly establish the terms and record them in a guidance agreement.
Additionally, the right of complaint protects you as a client. More information can be found on the following pages (in Dutch).

People would often like to know how long the therapy will take. It's hard to tell beforehand. The duration depends on your questions, your ability and willingness to choose differently, and your need for support and guidance. We will plan a number of sessions in the beginning, followed by an evaluation. Along the way, you and your therapist will regularly ask the question: ‘Are we on the right track?’ In that way, you are stimulated to reflect on the progress yourself as well.
